The Lowry’s exhibition of Quentin Blake, the cartoonist and illustrator of many children’s books, has been extended until January.

The exhibition was originally opened in July of this year, and was due to close the following August, but this has been expanded until the 4th January, 2026 due to popular demand.

Quentin Blake has worked on some of the most recognisable work in children’s books, writing and illustrating over 500 books and working with famous authors such as Roald Dahl, David Walliams, Russel Hoban and Michael Rosen.

His illustrations brought to life beloved characters like the BFG, Willy Wonka and The Twits.

Entry to the event is completely free, but it is ticketed, and gives access to two other exhibitions, the Lowry 360 immersive experience and Modern Life: The LS Lowry Collection.

The Quentin Blake exhibition a family-friendly event with games to play and fun interactives, with lots of chances for young visitors and their families to make stories of their own and be creative.

The run-up to Christmas and New Year means i’t sone final chance to visit the exhibition before it closes in the new year after its long run in The Lowry.
