A hit exhibition of work by world-renowned children’s book illustrator Quentin Blake makes for an ideal free family treat in the run-up to Christmas and New Year.

The Lowry’s long-running exhibition of Quentin Blake is offering final chances to see the work before it closes on January 4. The exhibition, which was originally due to close in August, was extended due to popular demand.

A family event is built around the displays with games to play and fun interactives, with lots of chances for young visitors and their families to make stories of their own and be creative.

Quentin Blake has worked on some of the most recognisable children’s books, writing and illustrating more than 500 titles in collaboration with famous authors such as Roald Dahl, David Walliams, Russell Hoban and Michael Rosen.

His illustrations brought to life beloved characters like the BFG, Willy Wonka and The Twits.

Entry to the event is free, but it is ticketed, and gives access to two other exhibitions, the Lowry 360 immersive experience and Modern Life: The LS Lowry Collection.
