Salford City

Salford City’s attacking full-back, Ibou Touray, has been named in WhoScored.com’s best 11 players in SkyBet League Two for the season so far.

WhoScored.com covers football statistics from all major European leagues, and began coverage of SkyBet League One and Two for the 2019/20 campaign.

And with the Covid-19 pandemic putting the brakes on the majority of sport around the world, WhoScored.com decided to reveal which League Two players had been playing the best before the pandemic by analysing performance ratings.

Gambian international, Touray, was Salford’s only player to make an appearance in the selected 11, with an average performance rating of 7.11 out of ten.

Although Touray’s recognised position is left full-back for the Ammies, he has been named as a left midfielder in the squad.

This may be because the 25-year-old has been at the forefront of attacks down the left for Salford this season, with four goals and five assists in the league.

Crewe Alexandra’s Harry Pickering has been named at left-back, with Touray recognised for his attacking nature, accumulating a total of 48 pinpoint crosses, excluding corners, and averaging five crosses a game.

Born in Liverpool, Touray came through the Everton academy, before spells at Chester, Rhyll and Nantwich Town saw him become a Salford City player in 2017.

The 25-year-old, who made his international debut for Gambia in 2015, has been an influential player for the Ammies over recent years, finding the net 16 times in 133 appearances for Salford.

Fans over at the Peninsula Stadium will be hoping that their number three can continue his string of good performances, as the Ammies sit tenth in their first ever season in SkyBet League Two.
