Film about

The Manchester International Festival (MIF) has teamed up with Salford Artist Studio, Paradise Works, to create a collective portrait film of East Salford through lockdown.

Manchester International Festival has teamed up with Paradise Works, an artist-led studio community on the banks of the Irwell, for Capturing Summer 2020 a very special Festival in My Neighbourhood – reimagined in the light of COVID-19.

MIF’s popular Festival in My Neighbourhood programme has seen local community groups present everything from live music in parks and libraries to textiles workshops and fashion shows in neighbourhoods across Greater Manchester.

Reimagining the micro-festival series for these unique times, residents of East Salford are invited to submit short videos, photos or writing using a mobile phone or webcam that show who they are and how they’ve been living during lockdown.
Submissions will be edited into a collaborative film, premiering towards the end of the year, that paints a unique portrait of East Salford and the people who live within it – separated by lockdown but reunited by film into one community.

No subject is off-limits – but suggested themes include; your day-to-day life, what’s happening on your street, what brings you joy, and how you’re keeping in touch with people you can’t see in person.
Submissions are welcome from all residents of East Salford however under 18s are required to complete a permission form. The submission deadline is 31 August.
