Salford Red Devils clash with Betfred Super League leaders, St. Helens, late this afternoon in the hope they can get over the hangover from their Coral Challenge Cup Final defeat fast.

After their devastating 17-16 Wembley loss against Leeds Rhinos, Ian Watson’s men returned to the field on Friday, only to be handed a 58-12 hammering by rivals Wigan Warriors.

The Red Devils conceded 10 tries thanks to a Bevan French masterclass, in a game that would have boosted spirits in the camp if Salford had managed to do the double over Wigan.

Watson’s side will be wanting to find their feet again quickly, but next up are a Saints outfit that are running away with the league.

Salford’s pack will be bolstered with the return of Dan Sarginson however, who has missed the last three games with coronavirus.

St. Helens will be on the hunt for their 11th successive league win in today’s contest at the Emerald Headingley Stadium, with a victory over Salford all but guaranteeing Kristian Woolf’s men a play-off position.

Saints have made seven changes to their 21-man squad following their 40-8 win against Leeds Rhinos on Friday night.

James Graham returns after he was rested for the game against the Challenge Cup winners, and Woolf could give debuts out to 21-year-old Tom Nisbet and 19-year-old Matty Foster.

Today’s Super League game between Salford Red Devils and St. Helens will be refereed by Ben Thaler and kicks off at 5:30pm at the Emerald Headingley Stadium.
