Business owners in Salford are reportedly still affected by a recent electrical fault in the area, which first occurred on Saturday morning.
Police were forced to cordon off part of Bolton Road in Walkden because of the incident.
It was feared that the electrical fault was dangerously close to a part of the gas mains, meaning local shops and eateries were forced to temporarily close.
Many homes and businesses were said to have been hit by the power outage, including an entire gym in Worsley.
Salford Now spoke to Tom Linden, whose Family run Davardi’s Pizza Bar in Walkden. Linden relayed the events of Saturday night and how it affected their takeaway service.
Having already made their bread dough for the day, Davardi’s was forced to transport their stock over to their secondary restaurant in Monton.
The fault also damaged the phone lines for Davardi’s, impacting their usually busy weekend service even more.
“We had to open an hour late, with our phone lines down card machine not working properly, it was supposed to be fixed by Sunday.” But as of Wednesday afternoon, issues still plagued them.
“It has cost us quite a bit of money” in what has been a difficult time for businesses operating in a Tier 3 area like Salford.
With Greater Manchester set to remain under Tier 3 restrictions, with every other isolated incident, businesses and retail in the area will be affected.
A spokesperson from Electricity North West, the company that manages the power network in the region, issued a tweet about the electrical fault:
