Former Salford City captain Liam Hogan has hailed Stockport County’s advance into the second round with a historic 5-3 win.
He tweeted: “This is the night we’ve waited and wanted for. Edgeley Park in full party 🙌🏻 No doubting that was fully deserved!! Top top Class lads 💙”
Despite a 3-1 deficit, the National League team completed a shocking comeback against League One side Bolton Wanderers.
The hosts found themselves one goal down after a whirlwind first half in which Bolton led 2-0 after six minutes.
Stockport then scored three unanswered goals, two in extra time, to seal a famous victory over the ex-Premier League side.
Hogan appeared in 105 games for Salford between 2017 and 2020, captaining the side as they secured promotion to League Two.
The defender, who played with his brother Scott at Salford City College, was also named Player’s Player of the Year for the 2017-18 season.
Hogan tweeted after full time to express his delight with the thrilling win.

The veteran has also played for five other teams including F.C. Halifax Town and Gateshead during a career that has spanned over a decade.
