MANCHESTER Storm put another valuable 2 points on the table last Saturday, with a lively 4-2 win over the Edinburgh Capitals in the Elite League.
The Storm were on the verge of a shutout, winning 3-0 by the start of the third period, before the Capitals brought 2 back via winger Karel Hromas and Canadian centre Taylor MacDougall to raise the tensions in the Storm Shelter. Mario Trabucco put the game to bed with the Storm’s 4th 10 minutes from time to lift the Storm to 7th in the standings, coming off of 2 defeats in a row.
The Storm started the game positively, as they have done all season to carrying degrees of success, as Trabucco put them on the score sheet with less than a minute played. Then less than 20 seconds later, Cody Cartier doubled their advantage. A shocked Capitals side were pinned into their own half for the remainder of the period, and were lucky to go into the break just 2 down.
The Capitals had an early goal in the 2nd period waved off by the officials, after taking advantage of a power play, only for Jack Prince’s stunning drive to put the Storm 3 up.
Mike Clemente would have been hoping for a clean sheet but for Hromas to beat him in the 3rd, before MacDougall quickly slide in another goal for the Capitals to be within 1 on the score sheet to level the proceedings.
There was a sigh of relief in the storm shelter when Trabucco made the game 4-2 for the Storm after a great passing move involving captain Trevor Johnson and returning forward Matt Bissonnette, with the Storm now looking forward to their next game against the Dundee Stars and also welcoming back the Edinburgh Capitals in a ‘Pink The Rink’ special in aid of The Christie next weekend.
