A man’s body has been found in Rochdale.

Police were called to the Scout Hut at Spotland Bridge at around 1pm on Monday.

A police spokesman said: “The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.”

Over 80 people have died in rivers, canals or other waterways in Greater Manchester in the last 5 years, making the Manchester area account for a third of all deaths in UK waterways.

There have been reports that the body was discovered in the water, but this has not been confirmed.
