MANCHESTER United hosted a fundraiser last night to raise money for Unicef, the world leading children’s organisation.

These types of events which happen annually at Old Trafford have helped to raise more than £4 million for the children’s charity over two decades.

Last night’s gala helped to raise £160,000 which will be used to continue to fund Unicef’s work in Thailand where gender inequality, disability and poverty mean people are denied a proper education.

The gala was also a chance for fans to donate to charity and to meet some of their stars and idols.

A number of famous faces were present including TV presenter Rachel Riley, Game of Thrones star John Bradley West and grime star Stormzy, who was the headline act for the event.

A speech was given by Jose Mourinho and there were a number of signed Manchester United memorabilia items were auctioned off.

Mourinho’s men will now return to training after an international break and a couple of weeks away from club football.

The reds play Newcastle United on Saturday at Old Trafford and could really do with a win after their loss at Chelsea in their previous fixture.

Three points are needed from the weekend if they’re to start to close in on rivals Manchester City who are sat at the top of the table eight points clear.
