GRIEVING auntie Nicola Ashton, 33, from Little Hulton Salford , is attempting to raise money for the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to commemorate her niece Amelia Cook who died at six days old.

Parents Darren Cook and his fiancee Vicki Cornes from Manchester lost their daughter on December 15 last year.

Ms Ashton has set up a Go fund me page in the hope to raise funds for the NICU endowment fund. She is also creating and selling diamond embroidery pictures for fifteen pounds each in an attempt to raise further funding for the cause.

To purchase the pictures please contact Mrs Ashton via the Go Fund me page.

Miss Ashton is donating a baby and stork picture to the NICU unit based at St Mary’s hospital Manchester.

Miss Ashton had previous experience with the NICU team when her own son was born in 2007. AJ Dyson was born 12 weeks premature weighing 1 lb 13 oz .

Miss Ashton explained “ They saved my son’s life. It’s coming up to Amelia’s anniversary and the staff at St. Mary’s were fantastic with the whole family. They went out of their way to make those days as precious as possible. I wanted to say thank you to them and thought this was the best way.”

Amelia’s family would like to pay special thanks to Claire Robinson from the bereavement team at St.Mary’s hospital. Amelia’s year anniversary will be on December 15. The family hope to have raised two hundred and fifty pounds by this date.
