Beginning March 19, The Performers Playground will be offering a 10-week clowning course for those interested in becoming more playful in whatever they are doing, every Tuesday from 6.30pm-8.30pm at The Lowry.

Set up by Alice Robinson and Mark Winstanley, two masters of performing, teaching, and theatre-making, they have sculpted this school around clown and play for the last decade. After spending four years in London, the pair decided to reestablish themselves in Manchester, so that they could provide “high-quality training for those interested in playful theatre-making.”

“You see people’s glass ceilings being smashed through.”

Over the course of 10-weeks, you will learn to playfully pursue the inner performer in you. The course aims to cover areas such as mask work, Clown and theatre creation while exposing you to your most vulnerable and naïve state.

“People find that they become more playful in whatever they are doing as a result of doing the course.”

During these sessions, you will embark on a personal journey, learning to laugh, follow your impulses and build your confidence in order to fully immerse yourself in the world of performing.

So if you’re interested in seeing what “being with a group of awesomely ridiculous people will be like for 10 weeks” and what impact it has on your life, come along and sign up to the course here.
