The M61 is facing delays after sheep were found straying onto the carriageway.
Traffic was held between 8:50am and 9:10am this morning southbound on junction 8 for Chorley, while the sheep were located back to their field.
Drivers took to twitter to voice their concerns to Lancashire Police, after one commuter reported that they were at a standstill.

There are no full closures on the M61, however we are dealing with sheep on the verge where you have seen us on the hard shoulder.

All lanes have been re-opened, however there is still some traffic in the surrounding area.
