Whether you want to walk around a gallery or relax watching a dance show , here’s a number of things on in MediaCityUK to captivate you this week.

From Saturday 16th October until 27th February The lowry is hosting Jock McFadyen: an exhibition 45 years in the making. The exhibition sees the Scottish artists work displayed at the home of one of his most influential artistic influences, LS Lowry.

The work displayed ranges across his 45 year career and highlights his passion for painting the modern city and the people who inhabit it as well as huge panoramic views of the natural world.

If dance is something that interests you, The Lowry is hosting Regional young people’s dance festival – U Dance, on Saturday 12th February and Sunday 13th. Experience two exhilarating evenings of diverse dance performances as the northwest celebrates some of the finest youth dance companies and young people’s choreography from across the region.

On Tuesday 8th February and Wednesday the 9th February The Lowry theatre is hosting Bluebelle. Watch a “journey into the wilderness of parenthood” in this family friendly show that explores infertility in a light-hearted, mysterious tale. Expect striking poetic theatre and lyrical live music in this story about life and how to protect it.


For the more creative of you out there, The Lowry is also hosting “You can’t stop us” until Sunday March 20th. The exhibition is made up of print , textiles , ceramic , painting and animation that will bring together new work by young artists from Venture arts young peoples art club. Bask in the work from young creators aged 8-25 years old, all based in Greater Manchester, as they display work that was mostly created during Lockdown. “ The exhibition shows determination of young artists not to let challenges of the pandemic limit their creative output.”
