The Lowry is hosting an exciting, upcoming, feel-good theatre production.

Fisherman’s Friends: The Musical, is based on a true story about Cornish singing sensations, who topped the charts. The musical comes after the original novel written by Amanda Whittington, as well as the hit 2019 movie.

The play follows “out of the water” music Manager, Danny, who stumbles upon a group of Cornish fishermen who come together to sing traditional sea shanties, which leads them to performing on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury. The musical is promoted as a “feel-good voyage about friendship, community and music which smashed box office records in Cornwall.”

The musical contains a star cast of Susan Penhaligon, Anton Stephans, Robert Duncan, Parisa Shahmir and James Gaddas.

Robert Duncan said the story as universal appeal. he explained: “Some of the things in it are peculiarly Cornish but the idea of how the landscape shapes people is true wherever you go. Plus it’s about community and getting through things together, which is now more relevant than ever.”

The production starts on September 27th until October 1st with ticket prices ranging from £19 to £33 upwards. Described and BLS viewings are also available on set dates. These are Wednesday September 28th for audio described and Saturday October 1st at 2pm for BSL.
