A University of Salford Lecturer will launch her book ‘Terrorist Recruitment, Propaganda and Branding’ this evening in Media City UK.

Dr Anna Kruglova, a Lecturer in terrorism studies based the book on her thesis she completed at Queens University in Belfast.

The book explores the terrorist organisation ISIS and its ability to radicalise and recruit people from the west using marketing techniques and online propaganda.

Dr. Kruglova said: “I hope the book helps build a better strategy when it comes to dealing with terrorist propaganda online and changing the perceptions that surround the ideas of radicalisation.”

The book was published back in July and will now get its first official launch inside the University of Salford’s Media City Campus.

Nicola Benyahia and founder of the anti-radicalisation counselling organisation – families for life, will speak alongside Dr. Kruglova at the book launch.

Miss Benyahia set up the organisation following the death of her son in Syria in 2015 after he was radicalised by ISIS.

Miss Benyahia said: ” I found Anna’s book really interesting because a lot of the research related to my own personal experiences with families I have worked with.

The book explores a lot and gets you to really think and reflect on things.”

Dr. Kruglova added: “I’m excited and nervous, it’s going to be my first ever book launch, and hopefully, it’s going to go well.”

• The book launch will take place on Tuesday, October 18th, 5 PM – 7 PM. Free tickets to the event can be found here.
