Salford local elections.

It has been a night of little change in Salford as the local election results have been counted.

Labour made the only gain of the night, taking a vacant seat previously held by the party in Pendlebury and Clifton.

Further afield,  Ordsall councillor Chris Twells, who has been under fire for standing the Cotswolds whilst elected, has won his election in Tetbury with Upton. Twells told the Local Democracy Reporting Service he would resign his seat in Ordsall should he win his race in Tetbury.

This would mean there will be a by-election in the Ordsall ward in the near future.

The overall turnout in Salford was 24.2%, with 45,707 people casting their ballots.
