The Salford based charity ‘Mile Shy Club’ has jumped in to inspire locals to improve their walking and running.

Jane Dennison, founder of Mile Shy Club, expressed her dedication to inclusivity, as the Mile Shy Club is for everyone.

Jane commented: “Mums, Dads, Grandparents, those with two left feet… we want to take the scariness out of the sport and encourage those, particularly those struggling with health issues, to come along and give it a try.”

The Salford running club has dedicated to supporting the journey towards improving health whilst embracing and supporting everyone who wants to be involved.

The club’s motto states, “No One Gets Left Behind.’

As of this September, three separate clubs have launched in Swinton, Worsley and Ordsall so far with 15 other clubs previously developed in the last few years.

The week commencing on January 8, Mile Shy Club will take on the coach to 5k program.

As or recently, Mile Shy Club has “coached over 1,000 people into the sport of running.”

Jane added: “We currently have just under 2,500 members across 5 sites”

Founder Jane Dennison established the club seven years ago after experiencing homelessness in her teenage years. Due to continuing mental health struggles, Dennison spent time in a psychiatric ward receiving support.

Going full time as of this April, Jane Dennison has aided the community by emphasizing the importance of belonging for everyone.
