Salford charities came together with the Energise Centre to host a Winter Wellbeing Fair to raise money and scout for volunteers.

Organisations such as The Big Issue North, Ordsall Community Arts Centre, and Salford Health Improvement held stalls at the event.

There were also card-making sessions, free holistic therapy taster sessions, and handmade Christmas decorations.

The Energise Centre, on Douglas Green, provides free activities for the local community all year round with everything from chair-based exercise classes to creative writing.

They even make up £1.50 ‘recipe bags’ including all the ingredients for a healthy meal for four people.

Gina Hine, manager at the Energise Centre, said: “We’re really lucky, we’ve got a really great team of volunteers, and they’ve helped us produce things to sell, and helped us organise the event.”

“What we try to do is make everybody feel welcome and feel like it’s a safe space. And it works because people keep coming back.”
