Salford Red Devils confirm passing of former captain at 45

Salford Red Devils have confirmed the passing of former Salford captain, Malcolm Alker, who died at the age of 45.

Alker made 292 appearances for Salford between 1997 and 2010, spending his entire professional career with the club.

He was first appointed as the captain of the team in 2000 at just 21 years old.

It is with huge sadness that we learn of the passing of former-Salford captain, Malcolm Alker.

In addition to representing Lancashire in 2002, his performances for Salford throughout the 2000s eventually gained him international recognition.

Alker went on to become a talented No9 in the Super League and even played for England twice during his career.
