Salford City manager Karl Robinson praised his side in their recent hard-fought 1-0 win over local rivals Oldham Athletic.
The Ammies ended their three-game winless streak courtesy of Dan Udoh’s third goal of the season and saw out all three points against a 10-man Oldham.
Salford moved up to seventh in the league table, two points off an automatic promotion spot.
Robinson spoke on the game: “We showed tremendous grit and determination. I think off the back of losing three games, you take any result from a game like this.
“When Salford play Oldham, I believe you get the best version out of Oldham. I’ve got tremendous respect for their manager and their staff. They were always going to bring a challenge to us.
“I thought we showed a really good out-of-possession shape today.”
Thank you to all of the Ammies who cheered the lads on at The Peninsula Stadium today 👏

An eventful local derby, the match turned out to be marked by missed penalties, fan protests, red cards and a debut from shock signing ex-AC Milan player Fabio Borini, all happening in the 90 minutes at the Peninsula.
Robinson continued: “We had to win. I asked the defenders to be aggressive, and I thought they did that in so many areas.
“I thought we had the larger part of the game under control. We had five to six really good chances to score three or four.
“I was really pleased with how we stood up to Oldham. I’m happy, but I want more.
“All the substitutions came on and made us look stronger. It shows the strength in depth that we’ve got.
“I’m really proud of them, and now we can prepare ourselves for a very difficult game away at Gillingham next week.
“We have a really determined group of players that knows there is so much more to come from us.”
The Ammies travel to the Priestfield stadium next weekend to face a strong Gillingham side in hopes of leap-frogging their opponents and moving themselves higher up the league table.
