Police have launched an investigation into a suspected arson attack after a dustbin next to a Salford supermarket was set on fire.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) crews were called to a rubbish fire next to an Aldi Supermarket at Salford Precinct on Heywood Way, at around 5:30am on Thursday.
At least two fire engines were seen attending the scene as smoke rose high above the building.
GMFRS said crews worked alongside Greater Manchester Police to make the area safe.
The spokesperson said: “At around 5.30am on Thursday, 16 July, fire crews were called to reports of a bin fire at a premises on Heywood Way, Salford.
“Crews worked alongside colleagues from Greater Manchester Police to make the area safe. The crews were in attendance for just under two hours.”
Greater Manchester Police say they believe the fire was started deliberately and confirmed that an investigation into the incident has begun.
