Salford Lads Club which famously appeared on The Smiths’ The Queen Is Dead album sleeve, is hosting a packed night of indie rock this Friday (October 16).
The iconic concert hall will host four local artists in one night, all in celebration of the venue’s rich music history, including Salford’s own John Denton, a 16-year-old artist already stamping his name on the northern music scene, playing Manchester’s Neighbourhood Festival in October.
Also featuring on the night are, The Sound Machines, Bloom, and Kieran Arnold, all local artists ready to take to the famed stage on Friday.
Local artist commented on the opportunity, saying: “Absolutely can’t wait for this! Buzzing to play in such an iconic venue”.
Now a Grade 2 listed building, the 123-year-old club continues to foster youth in the region, offering regular activities for lads and girls, with ticket sales going towards keeping a hub of the community afloat.
The club was saved from closure in late 2024 after a target to raise £250,000 was smashed with help from music legends Morrissey, Graham Nash and an auction of a Noel Gallagher guitar.
Tickets are £10 and it grants access to the club including the Smiths Room and a pre-show podcast talk with Tony Flynn and the artists.
