Salford rapper Jordan McCann defeated Mo Deen by second-round TKO at Misfits Boxing 30 in London on Saturday (October 10), earning his first victory in the crossover boxing promotion.

The Salford rapper was awarded the win after his heavyweight contest with Deen was stopped 37 seconds into the second round, following an issue with Deen’s mouthguard.

The bout took place at the Copper Box Arena as part of the undercard for Joey Essex’s fight against comedian, Dapper Laughs.

Misfits Boxing is best known for its uncanny strategy to promotion within the sport, focusing more on Fame than Boxing Ability. Whilst it isn’t quite Fury vs Joshua, the majority of bouts held on Misfits are Professional fights with well respected officials and judges.

Following the stoppage against Mo Deen, Jordan’s record in the sport is now one win and two losses. Fans of the influencer boxing scene expect McCann to return sooner rather than later to the sport.

McCann, who grew up in Little Hulton, returned to the ring just weeks after announcing his retirement following a defeat to Charlie Robert, most commonly known as Big Stacks, in Newcastle in September.

He had previously lost to social media personality, Jack Kay, better known as the Ibiza Final Boss, on the undercard of Tommy Fury’s fight against Eddie Hall in Manchester in June.

The 32-year-old suggested before Saturday’s contest that he was persuaded to return, after Misfits representatives contacted him about the opportunity. Both McCann and Deen were seeking their first victory in the promotion heading into the fight.

The contest was scheduled for five one-minute rounds, with the unusual format intended to accommodate the two heavyweight competitors.

However, the fight ended early when Deen failed to continue following the mouthguard issue, prompting officials to stop the contest and award McCann the TKO victory.

McCann’s return was also marked by a controversial moment before the fight itself.  Footage appeared to show him striking a spectator while making his ring walk.

The incident attracted attention on social media during an event that featured several other chaotic moments. The result marks a change in fortunes for the Salford fighter after two consecutive defeats in the ring.

McCann first rose to prominence through his music career, with his track record including an appearance on Charlie Sloth’s Fire in the Booth and collaborations with other UK rap artists.

His connection to Salford has featured prominently in his music career, with his roots in Little Hulton and a music video filmed near Salford Precinct. Saturday’s victory gives McCann his first Misfits Boxing win, although the unusual ending is likely to remain a talking point amongst his fans, following his return to the sport.
