A Salford school has been recognised for its commitment to improving the transition experience for pupils moving from primary to secondary school.

All Hallows RC High School has become the first school to achieve the bronze level of the Moving On Well (MOW) Award.

The school has been awarded in recognition of its commitment to supporting pupils through the important transition from primary to secondary education.

The Moving On Well Award, developed by Lifecentre Salford, is an accreditation programme designed to help schools strengthen and improve their transition practices.

All Hallows RC High School, located in Pendleton has achieved the Bronze level, marking an important first step in its MOW Award journey and recognising the work already taking place within the school to support pupils as they move onto the next step of education.

Mrs E Walker, Headteacher of All Hallows RC Highschool, said: “We are delighted to be the first school to achieve the Bronze level of the Moving On Well Award.

“Supporting our pupils through the transition from primary to secondary school is incredibly important to us, and the Award has provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on our existing practice, celebrate what we are doing well and identify areas where we can continue to improve. We are proud of this achievement and look forward to continuing our MOW journey.”

The Moving On Well award is currently being delivered across secondary schools in Salford, with schools alongside Lifecentre to develop approaches that help children feel more confident and prepared for secondary school.
