TWO people have been injured after roof panels collapsed at Manchester’s Victoria railway station.
Police have confirmed that both people suffered head injuries and have been taken to hospital for treatment.
Eye-witnesses said a ‘tidal wave’ of water collapsed on top of a train and on a platform where people were walking.
It is believed between 20 and 30 commuters were hit.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “We are currently attending Manchester Victoria station following reports of a partial roof collapse.
“The North West Ambulance Service is also in attendance and two people are receiving treatment for cuts to the head.”
Northern Rail have said the two people involved were not seriously injured.
One plastic roof panel above platforms one and two collapsed.
A spokesman for Northern Rail said the railway station wasn’t closed and services were running as normal.
She added: “It has not disrupted the station and services are running as normal.
“Two customers are being seen by paramedics. They are not seriously injured. No platforms are closed.”
The roof panel involved is made from ETFE (ethylene tetrafluoroethylene) plastic – part of the huge new roof built at Victoria station in the recent revamp costing £44 million.

The station’s 8,500 square metre roof arcs over the it’s new concourse, linking in with the original Grade II-listed station’s buildings.
The ribs in the roof are linked and filled with ETFE panels.
