Twins Tom and Ben Curry have both signed a five-year contract deal at the rugby union club Sale Sharks.

Since making their debuts in October and November 2016, the Curry twins, at only 18, have made a real impact in the Sale Shark world.

Talking about their progress this season, Tom said, “it’s been personally phenomenal.

“We’ve been really chuffed and grateful for the opportunity we have been given and I think a lot of it’s down to the coaches and the players accepting us into the environment”.

Reacting to the announcement, Director of Rugby Steve Diamond said, “I’m delighted that both Ben and Tom have signed long-term deals at the club. They will play key parts in the club’s vision of developing players in the Academy, and bringing them through to the first team.

“This shows our commitment to bringing through the best of the North West’s youngsters. The Academy side made the final this year for the first time ever and we are now looking to work with most of those players and help them progress to the first team squad in years to come.”

Not only have they signed a five-year contract deal with the club, both the boys have been named for the England U20s squad for the 2017 Six Nations. Tom appeared in the side’s two opening fixtures, this included him scoring a debut try against France at Sandy Park. Ben also made his debut for the side against Italy and was named man of the match.

Both brothers have achieved a lot in their short time at the club and have said they are really looking forward to what is to come.

However, both brothers have had time to reflect on losses over the season, at the weekend they lost to Northampton Saints which lead them to say: “we were just not good enough

“[But] one of the big strengths to this side and like we’ve proved before we can easily come back from something like this”.

You can catch both brothers back in action on the 7th April 2017 at the AJ Bell Stadium when they take on Worcester Warriors in the Aviva Premiership.
