A man disregarded lockdown regulations on Sunday to travel from Coventry to Salford to collect some £15 windows he had purchased on eBay.

When the North West Motorway Police stopped the driver on the M6 in Cheshire, his wife was found in the boot as there was no room for her to sit in the vehicle.

North West Motorway Police confirmed on Twitter that the driver was handed a Traffic Offence Report for the infringement.

After the government prohibited all non-essential journeys last week to try and reduce the spread of Covid-19, this is just one of several cases of how the UK public are failing to abide.

Salford City Council followed other boroughs in Greater Manchester last week and made the decision to shut children’s play parks, after there were widespread reported cases of people ignoring social distancing rules to visit the country’s parks.

With the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, announcing that non-vulnerable members of the public can go out for one form of exercise a day, Salford’s parks will only remain open for the sole purpose of offering an area for people to exercise.
