Swinton Lions are set for a return to Heywood road as they come up against the Bradford Bulls in the second round of the Betfred Championship season this Sunday.

The Lions come into the clash in not the brightest form, suffering a 64-10 defeat to the Sheffield Eagles in the first round.

Swinton’s real loss was that of danger man Will Hope, who was sent off to hospital following a season defining injury to his ankle and leg.

Lions Chairman Andy Maze in a statement addressing fans said: “It is not good news and while I won’t go into specific detail at this stage, sadly Will has suffered a serious ankle and leg injury with various breaks, torn ligaments and dislocations and will require further surgery.”

The Bulls on the other hand will be the more optimistic of the two, having edged out the Featherstone Rovers 16-17 will be looking to add to their winning start.

Many eyes are sure to be on Bulls star Jake Webster who was awarded man of the match in their opening fixture, with the 35 year old Australian seemingly looking as hungry as ever as Bradford look to stamp their mark on the Betfred Championship.

Kick off is set for 15:00 at Sale and could prove an interesting tie for the two teams as they both try and hit the ground running in the early stages of the season.
