A 22-year-old man is fighting for his life in hospital after his car was in a collision with a truck yesterday afternoon in Salford.

Police were called to Cadishead Way at around 3.15pm yesterday after reports of a serious collision involving a Toyota Hilux D-4D and a Scania Tipper truck.

Emergancy services found the Toyota driver with life threatening injuries.

The man was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition. No arrests were made.

Police Sergeant Joe Barron, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “First and foremost our thoughts are very much with the young man and his family and what must be an incredibly difficult time.

“I would appeal to anyone that was in the area at the time and saw either vehicle in the lead up to the collision to please get in touch with us, as even the smallest detail could prove vital to our investigation.

“We are also particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have dash cam footage as we continue with our enquiries and work hard to piece together exactly what happened.”
