A number of Christmas TV specials have been filmed in Salford this year. Here are the ones to look out for. 

Sports Personality Of The Year

This year’s Sports Personality Of The Year will be filmed live at Dock10 in MediaCityUK on Sunday.

The 65th awards ceremony, presented by Gary Lineker, Alex Scott, Claire Balding and Gabby Logan will be shown on BBC1 from 8pm.

The shortlist for the awards is: cricketer Stuart Broad, jockey Hollie Doyle, boxer Tyson Fury, Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton, footballer Jordan Henderson and snooker player Ronnie O’Sullivan.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire

This hit ITV1 quiz show will have two Christmas specials airing on Boxing Day at 9:30pm and December 27th at 9:15pm.

The first episode will see Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan and Diversity dancer Jordan Banjo trying to win money for charity whilst actress Kym Marsh, Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith and impressionist Ronni Ancona will star in episode two.

The programme, filmed in Dock10 Studios will be presented by Jeremy Clarkson.

University Challenge

This ten episode series, hosted by Jeremy Paxman, will begin airing on Monday 21st December at 8:30pm on BBC Two.

The universities taking part across the series include Oxford, Cambridge and Manchester. Dock10 studios in MediaCityUK have been the filming studios for the series since 2013.

Coronation Street

After celebrating it’s 60th Anniversary earlier this month- the soap, filmed in Salford is gearing up for a dramatic Christmas. Airing at 7pm on ITV1 on Christmas Day, viewers will see David & Shona Platt renew their wedding vows.

Whatever happens, it’s never a quiet Christmas on the cobbles:
