Amateur rugby team, Salford City Roosters are preparing to celebrate their 40th anniversary with a formal dinner in July.

The general public can attend the event by purchasing a ticket. All proceedings will go directly to the club to aid in post-pandemic circumstances.

Salford City Roosters, originally Eccles, were established in the late 1970s.

By 1988, they had climbed four divisions to gain promotion to the North West Counties League (NWCL) where they have remained since.

Local sports teams, whether amateur or professional, have been hit hard by the three lock-downs endured during the pandemic. However, as restrictions begin to lift, these teams can return their focus on their team’s long term aims.

For Salford City Roosters that includes new facilities such as a new clubhouse, production for which has already begun.

Fans will be happy to know that by buying tickets they are directly funding their clubs next facility upgrade.

Not only that, but the event itself is a unique opportunity to relive the club’s rich history and remember some of the key figures behind the scenes.

Such as ex-club secretary, Alfredia Kindon, a key figure in the rise of the Roosters for well over two decades.

Her impact and commitment to the club were never overlooked.

She was awarded a 10-year service award in 1989 and secretary of the year for the 1992-93 season. She sadly passed away earlier this year. A huge loss to the club, whose legacy is likely to be revisited at the dinner.
