Set in the disco era of the 1970s, ‘Bombay Superstar’ will showcase on the 8-12th of November at The Lowry, Media City.
Showcasing the golden Age of Bollywood cinema, Bombay Superstar tells the story of a passionate romance between a fiery rising star and her married co-star.
The ‘spectacular’ cast that has been announced for the premier include celebrities such as Nisha Aaliya, an actress who has featured on Netflix’s The Girl on Train, and Rav Moore, who is set to be the new UK’s ‘biggest Bollywood superstar’.
Bombay Superstar is directed by Samir Bhamra who is known for his Bollywood inspired work such as ‘Bring on the Bollywood’ and ‘Precious Bazaar’.
Mr Bhamra said: “I’ve recreated this happy era of bell bottoms and sparkly sarees with live music, soaring singing to the heights and a story that pulls on your every emotion, in a show that guarantees joy.”
The production company behind Bombay Superstar, Phizzical Productions, want to continue with their mission to ‘tell tomorrow’s stories today’.
Phizzical Productions also strive to establish themselves as a ‘leading voice’ within the theatre and arts industry.
The musical will also be shown at the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry, Hall for Cornwall, The New Wolsey Theatre and MAST Mayflower Studios.
