Two business owners in Salford says they can’t wait to start serving refreshments from their caravan shaped like a giant teapot.

The travelling teapot is a restored 1970s caravan, coloured pink and named Betsy, which its owners hope will hit the streets of Salford shortly.

Maria Williams, co-owner of The Travelling Teapot, said it has been her dream to serve the people of Salford, having renovated the 1974 Fisher Holivan vintage caravan.

“I was born and bred in Salford, literally 5 minutes from Manchester city centre, so I am passionate about Salford – and primarily the people,” said Maria.

“I would be beaming with the chance to work in and around my home city.”

The Travelling Teapot isn’t just about brews. The business aims to supply or partner with local, small or homegrown and serves tea from Manchester’s Bird & Blend, with Salfordian Blend coffee and hot chocolate from Salford Roasters.

She said: “Our ethos is to create the best product for our customers, we want to provide the best customer experience and make people smile whilst having a new and unique experience buying their drinks.

“We also want to make our customers feel valued, whether they are commuting to work, having a family day out or visiting an event.

Maria and her partner have switched careers, having previously worked in the community.

“Both Vicky and I have worked in social care, doing youth work and community projects for over 20 years,” she said.

“We are passionate about valuing people regardless of their background and we are going to continue that into our business.

“Whether that is raising money in a fundraising event or a pay it forward scheme it’s something we want to explore in the future.”

Busy lines for a nice warm drink.

Maria and Vicky have worked some events already and are now looking forward to taking Betsy out on the streets of Salford.

“We are all super excited to begin day to day trading in Salford,” said Maria.

“We have just got our street licence, we are just waiting on a pitch.

“We had the privilege of taking Betsy to the Bonfire Night fireworks event at Buile Hill park in Salford, which was a huge success.

“The feedback from the customers and Salford Council have been fantastic and we are super proud.”
