A woman has died after being hit by a train at Eccles station.

Emergency services responded to calls of an incident on Monday evening (29 May) at around 7.25pm.

An as yet unidentified woman was pronounced dead. Police are not treating the death as suspicious.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Eccles railway station at 7.25pm on 29 May following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended, and sadly a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

“This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
