Plans have been revealed to demolish some of Regent Road Retail Park and create a series of skyscrapers, one of which being the third tallest in the UK.

Proposals for the 3,200ft development, complete with more than 600 parking spaces, and food and drinks stalls, was submitted to the council for an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) today (Thursday 8 June).

The plans submitted by Henley Investment Management would see one of the ten towers in the development stand at a whopping 264m, making it the third tallest skyscraper in the UK behind The Shard (310m), and TwentyTwo (278m).

Plans for where the development will be on Regent Retail Park

Sainsburys supermarket would not be affected by the plans.

The plans are subject to an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), given the scale of the project and its location.

If permission is acquired, work would begin on the site in 2026, where the current lease ends. A planning application is expected to be released in October this year and, if approved, residents could move in as soon as 2028.

That’s basically ALL of Regent Road Retail Park only Sainsbury’s left.
No Boots, TKMaxx, Quality Save, Pets at Home, Sports Direct, to name a few affected retailers!!!
Not to mention the JD store and gym who have not long relocated there.
Where are there’s retailers going to go? This will affect the Ordsal community and those who commute to these stores.
