One man has died and another has been left in a serious condition after an incident in Swinton.

At around 3pm yesterday (Tuesday 25 July), paramedic, police and fire crews were called to reports of injuries after a workplace accident.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, a man was pronounced dead. Another man remains in a serious condition.

The incident is thought to be workplace related. Enquiries into the accident are currently ongoing.

A spokesperson for GMP said: “At around 3pm today (Tuesday 25 July 2023), officers responded to reports of two people being injured in Hilton Square, Swinton.

“Despite the best efforts of emergency services, a man was sadly pronounced dead. Another man remains in a serious condition.

“Enquiries are currently ongoing.”

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue said: “At approximately 3.00pm on Tuesday 25th July, firefighters were called to assist police at an incident on Hilton Square in Swinton.

“Fire engines from Salford, Ashton and Agecroft stations quickly attended the scene. Fire crews were in attendance for approximately 90 minutes.”
