15:00 Salford environmentalist sparks debate over food waste this Christmas – “It’s not really much effort”

Brussel Sprouts might possibly be the worst Christmas tradition. We’ve all either politely eaten them or they’ve gone straight in the bin.

An environmentalist based in Salford wants all of us to consider food waste when planning our Christmas season.

Salford environmentalist, Rosemary Murphy, said: “Why buy 500 sprouts if no one in your family likes them? Buy a small packet and cook them differently.

“No one likes Brussel sprouts because of the way they are cooked, everyone boils them within an inch of their life and they taste disgusting. Try frying them in a nut also try buying a smaller amount.”

14:30 No Wins in November – Salford City’s disappointing month in review

As the weather turned icy in November, Salford City were left out in the cold with no victories from six games despite their best efforts.

The month started on a somewhat positive note, when Neil Wood’s side travelled to League One side Peterborough in the first round of the FA Cup and were only denied a shock victory by Emmanuel Fernandez’s stoppage time equalizer.

It wasn’t all gloom as the Ammies were given a second chance at a giant killing this time in front of their home faithful 10 days later.
