The Hive Wellbeing Hub in Swinton is starting a new men’s mental health group this March.

‘The Man Club’ aims to tackle mental health struggles such as loneliness, isolation, relationships and finances.

The support group will take place every Wednesday from March 6 12-2pm at the Hive Wellbeing Hub, Victoria Park M27 4FA.

The group meet up will consist of a walk around the park followed by a drink in the hub.

Natalie Woodall, who works at the Hive Wellbeing Hub, is encouraging anyone to come down to ‘The Man Club.’ Natalie emphasised that the group is a safe space for people to come and that it’s a very relaxed environment.

She stated: “No pressure, no rules, its just a place where you can come to relax and have a natter.”

In the UK, men’s mental health has become a key focus over the years. Statistics from Samaritans showed that in 2022, men had a higher suicide rate than women at a staggering 16.1 per 100,000 people.

In 2021, 5583 suicides were registered in England and Wales and a three quarters of this were male.

Men’s mental health is so important, with one in two men likely to struggle with mental health issues.

‘The Mans club’ was started after the Hive Wellbeing Hub had several men come in for support.

Natalie stated: “There was a missing group of support in the area for men that we wanted to bring to the community.”

The support group is free to attend and welcomes anyone.
