A medical registrar at Salford Royal Hospital won four medals at the World Aquatics Championships held in Qatar recently.
Two out of Dr Daniel Mills’ four medals he won at the world championships in Doha are gold.
33-year-old Dr Mills, from Mosley Common, said: “I have done competitive swimming for most of my life and this is the first time I took part in a World Masters Championship.
“To become a double world champion and receive two gold medals is amazing with all my hard work paying off.”
Dr Mills is still training up to five times a week and as he is currently getting ready to compete in the British Championships that will be held in April.
Dr Mills added: “Winning four medals in Doha was incredible and becoming double world masters champion was a special achievement for me.
“I have certainly set the bar high for myself for the upcoming British Championships that are around the corner. I feel in good shape, I have been training hard and I am hopeful that I will be able to defend my British titles.”

Dr Mills set two new British records at the championships for the men’s aged 30-34 years 400m and 800m freestyle swim.
He also won a silver medal in the same age group at the men’s 200m freestyle and a bronze medal in the 4x50m relay.
The Norther Care Alliance stated on Twitter (X) that they are “so proud” of Daniel for his impressive swim in the capital of Qatar.
This year’s World Aquatics Championships took place between 4 and 17 February 2024 at the Aspire Dome in Doha.
