Visiting the Lowry 360 art experience, I had no idea what I would be walking into… but once I did I was immersed into the world of LS Lowry.
I was completely blown away by a wonderful display of sights and sounds.
Standing in the world of the famous painting, Going to the Match, you are immediately immersed into every brush stoke of the Salford artist’s work.
A loud and lively soundtrack of excited football fans, busy streets and a blend of electrified chatter features narration by Bolton-born actor, writer and comedian, Sophie Willan, who helps you feel the art come to life.

The 15-minute experience is a wonder, exploring a painting made in 1953 – displaying a reflection of residents going to watch Bolton Wanderers at Burden Park.
Within it, you can see the dedication of artist, who was able to show the lives of working class people, convey their emotions and tell their stories.
Visitors are surrounded by a creative exploration, in super-high resolution, of a painting that celebrates the excitement, anticipation, and ritual of going to a football match on a Saturday afternoon.
You can lose yourself among the wonderful combination of both history and culture.
Visitors can also move on to the traditional Modern Life: The LS Lowry Exhibition and see the famous painting on show.
Lowry 360 provides an insight into Salford over the 20th century, painting a picture of how the city grew from its industrial roots.
With support from The Law Family Charitable Foundation, Lowry 360 is part of The Lowry Theatre’s 25 year anniversary, displaying some of the most iconic pieces made by the artist.
Lowry once said: “You don’t need brains to be a painter, just feelings.”
Whether you are a fan of Lowry’s striking style and mastery of capturing emotion, or if you are intrigued by his influence on the Salford arts scene; Lowry 360 encapsulates the haunting beauty of one of Salford’s greatest artists.
The free opportunity to enjoy the wonder of the iconic painting is on offer until Sunday August 31.
Bookings to the experience can be made here.
