Popular stand-up comedy night Heckles in Eccles is set to return on Thursday October 2.
Heckles in Eccles is a stand-up comedy night which is held on the first Thursday of every month at The Northern Type, 23 Church Street, Eccles.
The event actively encourages those in the audience to heckle the comedians on stage.

In most stand-up shows, heckling is discouraged as it disrupts the flow of a comedian’s set. However, at Heckles in Eccles, the audience are invited to engage in spontaneous, off the cuff exchanges as the comedian’s wit and improvisational skills are put to the test.
The event is hosted by Stuart Thomson, a Swansea-born comedian who’s called Eccles home for the past eight years. Thomson, who also runs comedy nights across the UK, created Heckles in Eccles in February 2024 as a way to hone his skills as an emcee and bring people together.
When asked about the type of people that attend the event, Thomson says “Eccles is a very diverse place. The audience usually consists of more women. Even though it might seem like a ‘laddish’ thing, it’s a completely different mix of people.”
The show first started in February 2024 and has been running consistently by Thomson for 18 months. Thomson has toured the UK going to 212 different locations.
He added: “Heckles in Eccles is my passion project, I started it to get better at emceeing and also to meet new people.”
Thomson added: “The usual amount of people in the audience is roughly 30 but we want to reach more and more people.”
“The comedians at Heckles in Eccles will have you rolling in the aisles with their witty jokes and hilarious anecdotes.”
On October 2nd they will be offering a £5 drink voucher upon entry.
