Residents living near Salford Royal hospital could be set to receive parking permits in a bid to improve conditions in nearby streets.
A proposal for the introduction of the parking restriction measures on a number of streets in Eccles and Claremont was approved by councillors at a property/regeneration briefing on Monday, November 10, subject to call-in.

Salford Council’s report said that ‘multiple requests’ have been received over from residents outside of the hospital permit area to include them into the permit system.
Following a petition which amassed 77 signatures from the residents of Victoria Crescent and Glendale Road area, a recommendation was made to expand the permit area both geographically and time of operation in all three wards.
The Permit Scheme Expansion report said: “The expansion would cover areas where the residents are currently experiencing the most nuisance.”
The following roads will be included in the restrictions:
- Victoria Crescent
- Glendale Road
- Orient Road
- Orme Avenue
- Odessa Avenue
- Ormonde Avenue
- Otranto Avenue
- Orama Avenue
- Oxford Road
- Highfield Road (between Lancaster Road and Winchester Road)
- Cholmondeley Road (between Lancaster Road and Winchester Road,
including Graham Road)

The expanded roads are set have the same time of operation as the existing areas, from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
The scheme is set to cost approximately £10,000 in statutory advertising. The cost of the proposed scheme will be met from the approved hospital’s S106 money allocated to the permit scheme expansion.
69 residents gave a positive response to the expansion, with 25 objecting.
In October 2024, 2088 letters were sent out to residents of the existing area and the proposed permit parking geographical expansion.
However, Tina Morgan of Ormonde Avenue says her and the rest of her road has “no idea at all” about the change in parking restrictions.
Salford Council and Northern Care Alliance, which runs Salford Royal Hospital, have been contacted for comment.
