Locals from across Salford packed into Weaste and Seedley Social Club on Saturday the 15th of November for 80s night. The night was filled with brightly coloured clothes as the community came together for a night of retro music and nostalgic memories.
Weaste and Seedley social club held an 80’s night with a tribute act of the iconic Freddie Mercury. With an entry fee of £5 for non-members and £3 for members, the seats were soon filled.
At the bar many were raring to take advantage of the discounted drinks, which are even cheaper for club members. Members can show their very own membership card to bar staff in order to receive a price cut.
The tribute act who performs under the name of Terry Mercury had everyone singing and reminiscing on the good old days, before smart phones, streaming and social media.

The locals embraced this theme wholeheartedly arriving with moustaches on matching the Freddie Tribute act. They may not have worn the 80’s fashion, but they all still had bright party clothes on and bright funny sunglasses.
The flashing disco lights swept across the room in bright colours, as the crowd came alive when they heard the opening to Another ‘One Bites the Dust’ starts to play. This causes a massive sing along from the locals.

What stood out the most was the sense of relaxed friendliness from around the room, the kind of feeling people would only get when everyone knew everyone. Old friends greeted each other with hugs and handshakes, swapping stories over pints. It felt less like an event and more like a family gathering, as people were going around the room to different tables greeting everyone.
By the end of the night Freddie sang his last note, but people still lingered laughing and talking wanting the night to continue to find out more click here.
