Black Friday shoppers can attend a fraud and cyber awareness drop-in in preparation for the major shopping event.
Greater Manchester Police are hosting a free pop-up event at Lloyds on Bolton Road in Walkden, between 10am and 1pm tomorrow (Tuesday 25 November).
Staff and volunteers from GMP’s Economic and Cyber Crime Unit (ECCU) will be on hand to offer advice to shoppers.
GMP said that: “Our fraud specialists are holding events across Greater Manchester to warn of the dangers of the busiest online shopping period of the year.”
Since April, GMP have received 1,166 reports of online shopping fraud, with losses of £1.2m.

Detective Inspector Stacey Shannon said: “As part of GMP’s Christmas operation North Star, there will be a proactive approach to pre-warn our communities about the possible dangers of online shopping fraud.
“The team have been working with local schools, colleges and Universities to protect our community from this threat.”
GMP are working alongside partners including the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB) and Action Fraud, to raise awareness and provide advice on how to protect yourself online.
