A 20-year-old man has been charged with assault and strangulation following an incident reported to have taken place in Salford.
Colin Hanrahan of Chester Road, Manchester, has been charged with Section 47 assault and strangulation following reports of an assault which allegedly occurred on the Bridgewater Canal towpath in the early hours of Sunday, 30 November 2025.
Hanrahan was remanded in custody and will appear at Manchester Crown Court today (Friday 16 January 2026).
A Greater Manchester Police statement said: “A man has been charged following reports of an assault in Salford on the Bridgewater Canal towpath in the early hours of Sunday 30 November 2025.
“Colin Hanrahan (03.03.05) of Chester Road, Manchester, has been charged with Section 47 assault and strangulation.
“He was remanded in custody and will appear at Manchester Crown Court today (Friday 16 January 2026).”
