Salford commuters are facing disruption to their journeys as trams on a Metrolink line have been suspended to allow urgent repair work to be carried out.
An overhead line fault near Salford Quays has suspended Metrolink services on the Eccles line until further notice while engineers work to fix the issue.
Transport for Manchester, in a statement, confirmed that services on the Eccles line – which runs through Ladywell, Langworthy, Broadway, Media City, Harbour City, Broadway and Salford Quays – had been suspended until Pomona.
Trams running from Ashton-under-Lyne are currently scheduled to terminate at Deansgate-Castlefield instead of continuing into Salford.
TfGM confirmed that bus routes 10, 33, 50, 52, 53, 67, 79, 100, 248, and 249 are accepting valid tram tickets to help affected commuters complete their journeys.
Ian Davies, TfGM’s Interim Metrolink Network Director, said: “We are sorry for any inconvenience this is causing customers this morning.
“Engineering teams are on site and working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible, but customers are advised to plan ahead, check before they travel and allow extra time for their journeys.”
