Police are appealing for information after an armed robbery at a takeaway in Walkden.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said they believe a man armed with a gun entered the takeaway at Ellesmere Retail Park between 8:25pm and 8:35pm on Saturday 31 January.

The suspect arrived in a small black car, produced what appears to be a gun and fled with a small amount of cash, the force said.

The suspect was wearing a mask, a black hooded coat, black trousers and trainers, and was around six feet tall.

Detective Inspector Louise Haslam, of Swinton CID, explained that extra officers have been deployed in the area today, Sunday 14 February.

DI Haslam said: “While this will be worrying and concerning, this type of incident is extremely rare in Greater Manchester.

“We will have extra officers in the area today and the next couple of days as we continue our investigation and provide a reassuring presence.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time, or who has CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage to please contact us.”

GMP asked anyone with information to get in touch via 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting log 3045 of 31/01/26. You can also use the reporting tools on their website – always call 999 in an emergency.
