A local wrestling show has become a staple in Salford, selling out every show so far, including their next one which is set to happen on the 10th of April.

The Salford City Wrestling show has promised to entertain with new storylines and set pieces in the coming year, continuing on from their previous successes.

Alex Francis, co-owner of Salford City Wrestling has claimed that the company has now become ‘fully self-functioning financially’.

Alex spoke on the loyalty of fans: ‘We have a very high return customer rate. We sell out at 170, but we do end up letting more people in. So between 170 and 180 who come every time, I’d say 120 of those are regulars.

‘So, they’re all very invested. I feel like we’ve told very good stories. Our main focus when we started was to tell logical stories that everybody could follow’.

‘And that seems to have worked. And also just making sure the wrestling is of a quality we want it to be’.

As many fans have been returning to every edition, SCW has found stability within the community.

Alex said: ‘The money me and Boylan [other co-owner] put in when we started, we managed to take out after two shows. The company is fully self-functioning financially.

‘If for some reason we sold no tickets for two or three shows, we’d have enough to pay all the talent, which is our main priority. I’d say it’s mainly a passion project for us.

‘I’m not in the finer details of all the other companies, but I don’t know how many companies are self-functioning like that, and how many actually make a profit at the moment’.

Alex Francis is also a wrestler himself, known as Bentley, the Vigilante of Professional Wrestling. However, Alex also lives a normal life like anyone.

He spoke on finding a balance between wrestling and everything else: ‘It doesn’t take as much time out of my personal life as it used to.

‘Some days I don’t think about it at all, other days I’ll be texting all day because there’s something to sort. It’s in a healthy position, I’d say at the moment.

Bentley on his Facebook Page: ‘The Salford crowd is special, I don’t fight for glory, I fight for them’.

‘We’ve had to rewrite storylines for the year. But we’ve actually enjoyed that process because we feel like sometimes when you write all these stories for the first time, and you don’t revisit them, you think it’s not always your best ideas either’.

The next show is set to be held on the 10th of April, at the Pendlebury Social Club, with more details about Salford City Wrestling can be found here.
