Tram halted between Eccles and MediaCity provided by the TfGm

Tram services on the Eccles line will be suspended for four days across the Easter weekend as part of planned improvement works across the Metrolink network.

From Friday April 3 to Monday April 6 no trams will run between Eccles and Manchester city centre, with the closure also affecting services on the Trafford Centre and Altrincham lines.

The disruption is due to engineering works at Deansgate-Castlefield and Trafford Bar, alongside track renewal between Timperley and Stretford.

Replacement bus services will operate along the Eccles route, stopping at affected tram stops to help passengers complete their journeys.

Salford residents have previously expressed “frustration” at lines being closed for prolonged periods, citing the bus replacements as being “unreliable” and alternatives too “expensive.”

Passengers can use any tram ticket valid across the required zones on the replacement buses. One-day Bee Network tickets will also be accepted on these services, but not on trams still running on other parts of the network.

Normal services on the Eccles line and across the network are expected to resume from the start of the service on Tuesday April 7.
